Depending on your nationality or purpose of your visit, it may be necessary to issue a visa that allows you to enter the Dominican territory. A visa is a conditional authorization granted by a country to a foreign citizen to enter and temporarily stay in that country.
If your visit is for tourist purposes, please go to our TOURISM menu, where you will find a list of countries specifying which nationalities require visas and which can enter the Dominican territory without it for that particular purpose.
Citizens and residents of Canada DO NOT require a visa to enter the Dominican Republic for tourism purposes; however, it is required to travel with a valid passport, and in the case of being a resident of Canada, you must also travel with your Canadian Permanent Resident card.
For other types of visas, in this section you will find the necessary information to complete the process; please select the one that corresponds with the purpose of your visit.
The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Canada does not offer the passport renewal service. Passport renewals are processed through the Dominican consulates in the cities of Toronto and Montreal. To obtain the contact information for these consulates, please visit our CONTACT US menu.
Power of attorney services are available only to Dominican citizens. Please consider that if you are not a Dominican citizen, the power of attorney that you require has to be prepared by a Canadian notary.
